DIEPPE needs little explanation suffice to say that as a city it was not bombed during the last war and most of its architecture predates the 20th century. It can be entered at any tide and in any weather. It’s a 150 mile voyage.
CHERBOURG has been an important naval base ever since Napoleon’s time. Numerous street cafés allow you to relax with a coffee or glass of wine and soak up the typically Gallic atmosphere. Like Dieppe it is an all weather port. It’s a 180 mile voyage.
HONFLEUR is a pretty mediaeval French port with a lot of history and many restaurants around the Vieux Basin in the centre. Its cobbled streets and brightly coloured boats was the inspiration for many paintings by impressionists such as Cèzanne, Monet, Picasso and Renoir. An early departure is necessary due to the tides, so it is preferable to stay on board the previous night. It’s a 200 mile voyage.
FECAMP. An ancient fishing port, Fecamp's reputation is built on its maritime activity. With the port at the heart of the town and its long beaches it is a popular seaside resort. It possesses many monuments such as the famous Palais Benedictine - including the secret of the production of the famous liqueur Baccardi-Martini. It’s a 140 mile voyage.
