Welcome!

Living Water Mission exists to work with the tribes of Papua New Guinea, specifically in and around the Milne Bay Province. Helping them with practical needs, such as healthcare, transportation and wealth creation, whilst at the same time, and most importantly, introducing them to a living relationship with Jesus. Recently we have seen great progress in the mission and reassurance that God's plan is active and alive for His people here.

As you browse the site we hope you will catch some of the vision that God has given us for His people and seek Him as to how He might want you to be involved. Although you might not be called to live and work in PNG, you can still be involved and an essential part of LWM through prayer, finances or assistance in kind, if God is speaking to you as you browse the site, please click ‘get involved’ and see what you can do…

First fruits of Revival
In 2Chronicles Ch29 v36 we see an event where God had prepared the hearts of the people and they responded to Him suddenly, then revival ensued. Well in a small way that has happened to us. We have been fully engaged in the material development plan at Bwasa and had not yet prepared to receive students, nor were we ready to suddenly accommodate 18 people! However in April 2011 we taught our first crop of students the Basic Concepts Course and the authority of God’s Word.

We also gave some practical instruction on engines and machinery and some of the young men expressed interest in being involved with timber, boatbuilding and carpentry work. The students all testified to unexpected changes in their lives as many of them had only come for the possibility of trade and vocational training. It was a great success and the first course ended on the 9th April 11 with seven students receiving water baptism!

Suddenly our scope to develop Bwasa as a resource centre is gathering pace and the Word of God prospers. To date (July 11) we have had three sets of students complete the Basic Concepts Course. Currently we receive no support whatsoever from Churches in England or South Africa, either in finance or in books although we pray that God will remedy this. We also need to find willing and suitable teachers to join or visit us to assist with the courses, together with study/ reference books for the students.

ECF Grant
In 2010 an equivalency grant was approved from the Enterprise Challenge Fund of AusAid, this is to enable the building of two sailing work boats and some infrastructure to be built for small scale wood milling, the grant is to be split between L.W.M. and Massurina Lodge in Kwato. ECF Project File

Following on from this WorkingSail a company in the UK that builds pilot cutters has been kind enough to assist us with a set of plans for the work boats.

A few years ago now, Guy arranged the donation of two Woodmizer sawmills for the work, these have enabled us to train the locals in their use and to provide themselves with a little income through selling small amounts of timber, they also repay some of the initial cost to encourage ownership and avoid the expectation of handouts, from ‘Dim Dim’s’. (white men) At Kwato they will be cutting building timber for local sales and producing it ready to use. In this way they too will be earning money to finance their own cutter. The AusAID donations have provided the additional tools, machinery and shipping, in exchange our people must match this by fulfilling the agreed plans. The initial issue is to procure financing to pay wages and cover provisions such as fuel. To do this we are involved in cutting timber flitches, by milling these flitches we can dispatch first grade timber to Alotau for sale overseas. Income from this activity will ultimately finance the boatbuilding, although it is not there yet.

AirStrip
Some breaking local news is that the airstrip at Sehulea will soon be operational again after 12 years, courtesy of the Imwauna Mine prospectors; and flights can recommence, although MAF have long disappeared from Milne Bay they are needed now more than ever and could even supplement their operation by commercially servicing the islands.
The mine prospectors are planning to renew a road from the airstrip to Imwauna a distance of about 7NM which should be a great blessing for the whole of Duau.

So as you can see a lot is happening and there is a lot to happen, we hope you enjoy the site and most importantly catch the vision we have for Papua New Guinea, so you can play your part.
